Until We Meet Again.

It is with full hearts and misty eyes that we say goodbye to our sweet Tommy. 

Rescued alongside his brother Gordon in 2021, this lovable Hound spent three years at our adoption center, where he became part of the fabric of daily life. He charmed everyone who met him, soaked up attention from volunteers, and reminded us just how special senior dogs are. As time passed, both he and Gordon developed medical needs that brought them into our Sanctuary Program, ensuring they would always have the care, comfort, and love they deserved.

While we always hoped the boys would find a home of their own, we had long accepted them as part of our family – until a beautiful twist of fate arrived. In December 2024, Ruthann and Ron, longtime supporters and previous adopters, reached out wanting to open their hearts and home to Tommy and Gordon. Just in time for the holidays, the brothers trotted out the doors of the adoption center, finally home together.

Under Ruthann and Ron’s loving care, Tommy’s final year was everything we could have hoped for. When his neurological issues progressed and his body began to fail, Ruthann and Ron made the most compassionate choice, ensuring a 14-year-old Tommy left this world peacefully, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.

Tommy’s big heart, happy spirit, and soulful eyes left an imprint on everyone who knew him. We are endlessly grateful to Ruthann and Ron for giving both him and Gordon the life they deserved and to all who supported them along the way.

Rest easy now, sweet Tommy. You’ll forever be part of our Young at Heart family.
