Sparkles

Breed: DLH Tabby
Age: 8

I adopted Sparkles 7 years ago in Little Rock, Arkansas from a small rescue that is no longer active. She is 8 years old and a very loving, affectionate, vocal cat with her person. She has a calm temperament in her home environment and is well cared for, healthy, spayed, and up to date on her needs. She bonds very strongly with her person, following me from room to room and sleeping the bed with me all night and snuggling.

Due to recent life circumstances, I had to move back in with my parents. My dad has severe asthma that has escalated in the last two months. The doctor expressed extreme concern there was a cat in the home. We tried vacuuming and air filters, but the dander is still bothersome. This has been a difficult decision for me to come to but need to take into account my father’s health first.

Sparkles is selective with people and becomes stressed around strangers if they approach her too quickly. She doesn’t like to be touched on her body by strangers, only her head. She will hiss if overstimulated, so she would do best in a quiet home with someone experienced in reading cat behavior and willing to give her time to adjust.

She is good with dogs, currently living with a golden doodle and adjusts to them quickly, just likes her space from them. Cats are unknown, but she came from a cat hoarding situation prior to coming to me as a foster. If there are cats, she’d need a proper introduction period with them. I always felt another cat would be great for her to keep her company and active.
