Kobe

Breed: Beagle Mix
Age: 13

Kobe has been part of my family since he was just a puppy, shortly after he was weaned. His birthday is January 26, 2013, which makes him 13 years old—but he still has plenty of personality and sweetness to share.

Kobe is a gentle, affectionate Beagle mix who loves being around his people. He enjoys a good game of chase, but he’s equally happy curling up somewhere cozy for a well-earned nap. He’s a little hard of hearing these days, but otherwise is in good health. He is neutered and microchipped, as well as house- and crate-trained.

Like any true Beagle, Kobe tends to follow his nose wherever it leads. He can pull a little on walks when he catches an interesting scent, and his bark is unmistakably Beagle—loud, enthusiastic, and occasionally a little howly! He knows basic commands including sit, stay, come, outside, walk, and lie down.

Kobe has lived happily with my other dog, Gus, since Kobe was about four years old. Their introduction went well, and Kobe adjusted nicely to having another dog in the family. He hasn’t had experience living with other types of animals, so I’m not sure how he would respond to them.

He is also wonderful with children. I had a foster child living with me for a couple of years, and Kobe took to her easily and was very sweet with her.

Water, however, is not exactly Kobe’s idea of a good time. He’s perfectly happy to skip the pool and sprinkler, and bath time may begin with a little game of “catch me if you can.” Once he’s actually in the tub, though, he settles right down and is a good boy.

Kobe is a sweet senior dog who has spent his entire life being loved. I’m hoping to find him a wonderful home where he can continue enjoying the simple things he loves most—companionship, leisurely walks, a little playtime, and plenty of cozy naps.
