Gus

Gus came into my life in 2017, when I learned that his previous owner was going through financial difficulties and could no longer care for him. I took him in, and he has been part of my family ever since.

Now 11 years old, Gus may technically be a senior, but apparently no one has told him. He is still playful, energetic, and always ready for a game of fetch, a walk, or a car ride. On hot summer days, one of his favorite things is playing in the sprinkler.

Gus is also very clever—and extremely food motivated! He has an impressive internal clock when it comes to mealtime and will happily remind you if dinner is running late or if he thinks a snack might be in order.

He is house-trained and crate-trained, neutered, and microchipped. He does well with children and has lived with another dog. When Gus first came to my home, he needed a few days and slow introductions before becoming comfortable with my dog, Kobe. He wasn’t aggressive, but he did growl when Kobe initially tried to sniff him, so patience and proper introductions would be important with another dog. I don’t know how Gus would do with other types of animals.

One thing to know about Gus is that he can be territorial around food. If food accidentally falls on the floor near him, I simply let him have it rather than trying to take it away.

Gus has a lot of personality, a playful spirit, and plenty of love left to give. I’m hoping to find him a wonderful home where he can enjoy his senior years with someone who will appreciate his clever, fun-loving personality.
