Belle and Benny have spent the past eight years sharing a quiet, loving home with an elderly couple in Deerfield, Illinois. Sadly, their world has changed. Their beloved owner passed away in 2025, and his wife is now experiencing significant cognitive decline and will soon be moving to a nursing home out of state.

With no family, friends, or neighbors able to take them in, Belle and Benny are in need of a new home where they can feel safe, loved, and settled once again.

Meet Belle & Benny

Belle is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves attention and cuddles once she gets to know and trust you. She can be a little shy or easily startled around unfamiliar people, so she may need some patience while adjusting to a new home. Once she feels comfortable, her loving personality really comes through.

Benny is also friendly and affectionate, with a slightly more playful personality. He enjoys attention and companionship and has been very comfortable living in a peaceful home environment.

Belle and Benny have lived with their elderly caretakers for most of their lives and would likely be happiest in a similarly calm, loving household. They have had regular visits from young children and are tolerant of them, although they prefer children who understand how to interact gently and respectfully with cats.

A Note About Litter Box Habits

Within the past year, as their owner’s health declined, the cats’ litter boxes were unfortunately not cleaned as regularly as they had been in the past. During this period, Belle and Benny occasionally began going outside their boxes.

Importantly, when their litter boxes were cleaned and properly maintained, both cats consistently returned to using them. For this reason, the issue appears to have been related to the condition of the litter boxes rather than an ongoing behavioral problem.

Belle and Benny have already been through a great deal of change. We’re hoping to find them a caring home where they can settle in, feel secure, and spend the next chapter of their lives surrounded by the love and stability they’ve always known.
