How to Adopt

Thank you for your interest in adopting a senior pet!

Young at Heart is a cage-free facility. To help manage our pets’ stress levels, all meet-and-greets and adoptions are by appointment only with an approved application. If you prefer a masked adoption appointment, please just let us know. Your comfort is important to us!

Pet Adoption Requirements

  • Be 21 years of age
  • Have landlord's permission to have a pet (we will check)
  • Demonstrate a history of consistent veterinary care for current & past pets
    • Any current pets must be up to date on required vaccines, receive regular veterinary care and diagnostics, and be on veterinarian-recommended preventatives
  • Have a valid ID with current address
  • Have an adoption application approved by a Young at Heart adoption team member
  • Must live within 150 miles of Woodstock IL
  • Must be within your county’s pet ownership limits

Cat Adoption Fee: $100 | Dog Adoption Fee: $200
Adopters age 65 or older receive a 50% discount on adoption fees.

Fill Out An Application

Submit an application online. The review process can take 3-5 business days and may take longer during holidays.

Schedule Meet & Greet

Once your application is approved, we'll work with you to schedule an appointment to meet the pet(s) you are interested in.
